Reigning Truck Series champion Brett Moffitt was confirmed to be joining GMS Racing as the organization announced its complete racing line-up for the 2019 season.

Moffitt will pilot the No. 24 Chevrolet and work with crew chief Jerry Baxter. He joins the team after spending 2018 at Hattori Racing, where he won six races and his first championship but was left without a ride at the end of the year due to a lack of sponsorship. This season will be his second full year in the series.

“I’m excited to be given the chance to defend my 2018 championship,” Moffitt said. “I have to thank the Gallagher family and everyone at GMS for this opportunity. I can’t wait to start working with Jerry and the guys to kick off the season at Daytona in a few weeks.”

Moffitt and Sheldon Creed, who will drive the No. 2 Chevrolet, will be the only full-time Truck Series drivers for GMS this season. Creed will work with crew chief Doug Randolph while chasing Rookie of the Year honors. Additionally, GMS will still have a technical alliance with the No. 52 team of Stewart Friesen.

In the Xfinity Series, John Hunter Nemechek had previously been announced to the No. 23 Chevrolet. Chad Norris will continue to serve as the team’s crew chief.

Sam Mayer will drive the No. 21 Chevrolet for the organization in the K&N Pro Series East as well as in the limited starts he will make in both the ARCA Racing Series and the Truck Series.

“Brett will be an excellent addition to the GMS organization,” said GMS president Mike Beam. “Last year he showed the racing world the amount of talent and determination he has, especially while facing some adversity throughout the season. We look forward to helping him win his second championship and ours as well.

“We have a strong driver line-up in every series we’ll compete in this year. Maury Gallagher has given us the tools and personnel we need to compete for several championships.”
