What's the craziest thing you have seen on your afternoon commute? A crash or a police chase? Well this likely beats anything you might have seen. Commuters on the Californians 101 freeway were treated to the sight of a "German WW2 fighter aircraft" crash landing before bursting into flames.

The actual plane is an American trainer made to look like a German aircraft for reenactment purposes.

The Plane initially landed on the North Bound lanes but then crashed into the concrete centre divide, the pilot managed to get out and walk away with minimal injuries before the plane burst into flames. Fortunately no cars were involved and no one was seriously injured, but the freeway stayed closed in both lanes over a period of several hours.

Videos of the incident were posted to twitter by passerby's.

The aircraft in question appears to be a North American T-6 Texan and belongs to the Condor Squadron Officer's & Airmen's Association. The plane is bearing German camouflage for historic display purposes and appears to be resembling a Focke Wulf 190 fighter.

T-6 Texan is a trainer is a WW2 trainer aircraft now operated by the Condor Squadron, which has been founded in 1962 by members of the 146 figther group as a search and rescue unit of the Civil Air Patrol. Today the squadron is dedicated to preserving the memory about the planes and aircraft often flying formation for Parades, Celebrations & Memorials as well as perform other community services.
