Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered has officially been announced
And I find it disappointing
All this mysterious Hype for a game that we all knew was coming since May essentially. I find this extremely disappointing from EA. In this article I will explain everything that's new or different in the game.
Well they are good, but if you played this game on PC max settings, The game doesn't look all that different. The only that's significantly different is the anti-aliasing. It's also worth noting that the game's frame rate seems to be locked at 60FPS and it's only 30 FPS if have it on Switch, a normal PS4, and XB1. For 60FPS on console you need the PS4 Pro or XB1X.
This game has some new features. It has 6 additional hours of gameplay and has added new achievements, as well as 30 new events. Cross Play is one of them. A new photo mode has been added as well. Also the DLC inclused in the game can also be considered new if you never played it. has also been confirmed that there are now custom colors you can create for your cars and a wrap editor will be added as a post launch update. It is also worth noting that it will not release on next gen consoles but it will be backwards compatible.
The car list (including all original DLC cars) is the same except for the fact that there are 3 cars missing due to the fact that EA couldn't get licensing for those cars and EA hasn't stated which cars they are.
Unfortunately this multiplayer is still the same as before. Don't get me wrong it was good, but there was no real progression or rewards for leveling up so there is no real incentive to even play the multiplayer, especially if you're someone like me who doesn't have friends who will likely get the remaster of Hot Pursuit.
Release Date and Pricing
Hot Pursuit Remastered is set to release on November 6th for PC, PS4, and XB1, (November 12th for Switch) and is priced at $40 (USD) for consoles ($30 for PC). However, if you have an EA Play subscription, you get a 10% discount and will only have to pay $36 (USD).
My Final Thoughts
I'm very disappointed with NFS with this remaster, especially with the missed opportunities, like a bonus car for NFS Heat (like the orange Zonda Cinque) for pre ordering. They also missed a huge opportunity to revamp the multiplayer and show us what it could look like in the next game. I also find it disappointing that they chose to remaster this game which isn't as popular as the Blackbox titles from Underground 1-Prostreet which people have been asking EA to do for years now.
