Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered has officially been announced

And I find it disappointing

42w ago

All this mysterious Hype for a game that we all knew was coming since May essentially. I find this extremely disappointing from EA. In this article I will explain everything that's new or different in the game.

Well they are good, but if you played this game on PC max settings, The game doesn't look all that different. The only that's significantly different is the anti-aliasing. It's also worth noting that the game's frame rate seems to be locked at 60FPS and it's only 30 FPS if have it on Switch, a normal PS4, and XB1. For 60FPS on console you need the PS4 Pro or XB1X.

New Features:

This game has some new features. It has 6 additional hours of gameplay and has added new achievements, as well as 30 new events. Cross Play is one of them. A new photo mode has been added as well. Also the DLC inclused in the game can also be considered new if you never played it. has also been confirmed that there are now custom colors you can create for your cars and a wrap editor will be added as a post launch update. It is also worth noting that it will not release on next gen consoles but it will be backwards compatible.

Car List:

The car list (including all original DLC cars) is the same except for the fact that there are 3 cars missing due to the fact that EA couldn't get licensing for those cars and EA hasn't stated which cars they are.

Unfortunately this multiplayer is still the same as before. Don't get me wrong it was good, but there was no real progression or rewards for leveling up so there is no real incentive to even play the multiplayer, especially if you're someone like me who doesn't have friends who will likely get the remaster of Hot Pursuit.

Release Date and Pricing

Hot Pursuit Remastered is set to release on November 6th for PC, PS4, and XB1, (November 12th for Switch) and is priced at $40 (USD) for consoles ($30 for PC). However, if you have an EA Play subscription, you get a 10% discount and will only have to pay $36 (USD).

My Final Thoughts

I'm very disappointed with NFS with this remaster, especially with the missed opportunities, like a bonus car for NFS Heat (like the orange Zonda Cinque) for pre ordering. They also missed a huge opportunity to revamp the multiplayer and show us what it could look like in the next game. I also find it disappointing that they chose to remaster this game which isn't as popular as the Blackbox titles from Underground 1-Prostreet which people have been asking EA to do for years now.

What are your thoughts? Are you excited for this game? Let me know in the comments. Also don't forget to bump this article and follow me for the latest Need For Speed news.

  • I’d love to have a free roam mode with police like in Most Wanted.

    • That would add so much to the game to be honest. If this was added I might play a lot more of the game. I definitely would’ve played the original game a lot more if it had this feature.

    • Most wanted police were crap. The 2012 one. The OG one were sick from what I've seen

  • Straight up cash grab. Forza gave Horizon 1 a 4k update to people who owned the game AND DIDN'T CHARGE THEM! I find it SO hard to support companies like this. It's not a remaster. It should be a backwards compatiblie title that is slightly upscaled on better consoles, not a seperate game.

    • You’ve forgotten several things as to why EA just couldn’t have a free update.

Forza Horizon was Xbox exclusive, Need For Speed Hot Pursuit was not.

The Xbox One is backwards compatible, the PlayStation 4 is not therefore.

    • Yeah I guess so, however I do believe its a poor excuse for a remaster either way.

  • that was the best NFS of the PS3

    • I disagree especially since you had Carbon Prostreet and Undercover before Hot Pursuit. Then you had The Run, and Rivals after it. All of these games to me are preferable for a remaster over this.

    • hot pursuit has the most intense races by far

      that's why I love it

  • The thing I found hilarious about hot pursuit was...EVERY car is just so prone to drifting. If u let go of the throttle for half a second while entering the corner, the car just automatically start to drift, it was way worse than brake to drift. It was so bad that I...LOVED it. I also loved the car list as well.

    • Really?! Every time I’ve gone back to play that game I feel like I have to really force brake and sometimes the E-Brake to get the car drift and not hit a wall. I’m sure at the time I was used to it but now it’s really bad and is the worst version of...

    • Hm...that's a bit strange. As far as I can remember only the "heavy" ones like the Super Snake or Viper were so called "bad" at doing the drifting stuff as it required E-brake to initiate one and is hard to maintain the drift. The lighter ones,...
