Netflix Is To Make A Documentary Series On Nascar And Bubba Wallace
The series will focus on Bubba Wallace and his 2021 season.
Netflix has an abundance of shows to choose from that are car-focused, like "Formula 1: Drive To Survive," which shows what happened at races and in the teams during the F1 Season. Netflix has now came up with the same concept, but with a different motorsport.
However, the documentary series won't focus on all the teams, but will instead focus on Bubba Wallace during the 2021 season and his battles to win pole position for the 23 XI Racing team co-owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin.
The documentary series will "take viewers behind the scenes of the 2021 Nascar season through the eyes of the only Black driver at the top level of the sport." It will also "explore Wallace, 23XI Racing, and Nascar's efforts to advocate for inclusion and equality in racing and beyond." The release date has not been revealed by Netflix, but it is expected to be released later this year or early next year.
If the Nascar documentary series can have the same impact as the 'F1 Drive to Survive,' which helped turn a lot of people into Formula One fans, the show might make some discover an interest in Nascar, inside and outside of the US.
