For the past couple of months, fans have been waiting for confirmation on the release date for the new Michael Schumacher documentary. The wait was worth it as Netflix announced today the "Schumacher" documentary will be shown to the public on September 15th. Netflix will portray the story of the seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher in a brand-new documentary. Netflix has acquired the global rights to Schumacher, a feature documentary that will convey the multi-layered personality of the Formula 1 legend. Schumacher, the documentary, assures unseen intimate archive material and footage showing the “many facets of his multi-layered personality”.

The documentary is backed up by his family. Featuring interviews with his family, such as his wife, brother Ralf, daughter, son, father. And countless prominent and infamous people of motorsport such as Jean Todt, Bernie Ecclestone, Sebastian Vettel, Mika Häkkinen, Damon Hill, Flavio Briatore and David Coulthard will also be featured in the new Documentary. Not only that, but the filmmakers had access to never-before-seen archives and hidden footage of the 7-time World Champion.

The film will tell his story from the beginning, from his career life to his family life. There is a lot of speculation and excitement surrounding the film. It releases on September 15th, 2021, just over 30 years after Michael Schumacher made his F1 debut in Belgium, during the Belgian Grand Prix.

  • I just wonder and hope that by releasing this film/ series he will be left to recover at his pace and with the degree of media curiosity he is comfortable with. It might do Michael the world of good to know how many people wish him well. I saw him on OTG once, what a charming man.
