New 911 gt3, pdk or manual
For the ultimate driving experience and purists among us, porsche are now offering a six-speed sports manual gearbox in their new 911 gt3.
Yes, you read that right. For the first time in a Porsche 991 GT3 will be available either with a standard seven-speed PDK or an optional six-cog manual.
While the PDK version of the new GT3 is quicker and can launch itself to 62mph in 3.4sec, the manual's 198mph top speed does pip the paddle-shifter's by 1mph. It is not the seven-speed manual gearbox provided in the Carrera, instead Porsche have fitted the stronger six-speed found in the 911R.
The new GT3 gets the latest four-wheel steering, a limited slip differential and active engine mounts as standard. It sits 25mm lower to the ground and with the PDK transmission it only weighs 1430g with fuel. In comparison, a Carrera S PDK weighs 1460kg, the GT3 RS weighs in at 1420kg, so it's light!
The dominant carbon rear wing emphasises the fact that the form has been determined by aerodynamics - giving it 20% more downforce than the previous GT3. The lightweight nose construction and front spoiler have been optimised for an even better airflow. The aerodynamic enhancement is also evident in the lightweight rear bumper, which features characteristic exhaust air vents and the further highlight of a new underbody diffuser.
The interior of this new 911 model is tailored to the specific GT3 driving experience. The GT sports steering wheel with a diameter of 360 mm originates from the 918 Spyder. Both the driver and passenger experience the dynamics in Porsche Sports seats Plus with enhanced seat side bolsters and mechanical fore/aft adjustment.
The new 911 GT3 makes its global debut today, 7 March, at the Geneva Motor Show. It is available to order now from Porsche Centres in the UK and Ireland. The recommended retail price including VAT is £111,802.00, and first deliveries will arrive during early summer.
