Mercedes-AMG bossman, Tobias Moers, has confirmed that AMG will introduce a new petrol-electric hybrid line-up to sit below its 63 range, starting with a CLS53 version that's expected to bow at the 2018 Detroit Motor Show in January. The CLS53 is expected to use AMG’s 3.0-litre V6 Biturbo engine, as used by 43 models, in conjunction with a 50kw electric motor to produce a total of 320kw. The 53 nomenclature will feature exclusively on AMG models which only use petrol-electric hybrid powertrains. There is talk of the CLS63 being dropped, as AMG is working on their own 4-door coupe version of the AMG GT, that will apparently use a hybridized version of 4.0-litre V8 Biturbo from the AMG GTR, putting out around 600kw. #StayTuned #TunedAutomotive #SomeShitAboutCars
