      New Aston Martin Vantage Revealed

      It's a violent beauty

      3y ago

The new Aston Martin Vantage has been revealed, and boy howdy, it's a stunner. As Aston themselves put it: "If the DB11 is a samurai sword, this is a scalpel.”

The Vantage is packed with a 4.0L twin turbo V8 producing 503 BHP and 505 LB of torque. That puts it at a 0-62 MPH time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 195 MPH. Oh, and did I mention you can swap the 8 speed auto for a manual?

To handle that power, you'll get double wishbone suspension in the front and multi-link in the rear, along with an all new e-diff in place of a mechanical limited slip diff. To give drivers an option of how much "tech" they want to use, there are three driving modes: Sport, Sport Plus, and Track (pretty standard stuff on performance cars these days).

As far as the exterior and aero goes, well, it's an Aston, right? The front end is reminiscent of the DB10, with side gills alonside the fenders. At the back, you have two uncapped exhausts sticking out with a fully functional rear diffuser (no "just for show" crap here). No active aero or anything fancy like that.

The Vantage will come in a few different flavors; we don't have any details yet on what those might be, but expect a few AMR editions. Either way, it's an exciting time for Aston Martin!

        • See above. I was confused too. Easily done. It all went wrong with Aston styling when Marek Reichman became head of design. He just adds bling and excess to old designs. No real originality. Just evolves the prior gen Callum and Fisker...

      • Colour palette from Hyundai. Grill from Supercheap Auto. Seriously guys, what were you smoking when you decided to sign off on the front end treatment?

      • Awesome amazingness.

        Rant start

But with "Oh, and did I mention you can swap the 8 speed auto for a manual?" I fear we can look forward to an incessant nasal moan from in particular brit journo's and their human echopits of an audience about how you really need a manual. Which unless Aston made a hash of setting the auto, you really really won't.

        • Thank you for telling me that I don't "need" a manual. If you really know how to use a manual gearbox you're driving experience of any car is greatly enhanced. If you want to drive the vehicle and really feel a part of the machine as you navigate...
