NEW BMW VISION M NEXT HINTS AT NEW i8
BMW are shortly expected to announce their latest Ultimate Driving Machine. Is the fuss really worth something?
WHERE DOES THIS NEWS COME FROM?
BMW has released teaser images of a new concept that will be presented next week in a brand presentation. The M Vision Next is hailed by BMW to be the "new era of sheer driving pleasure", and is supposedly said to be the presumed successor to the current i8 which was released in Autumn of 2013 and is in dire need of a replacement.
WHAT DO WE KNOW?
The photos that were released give away very little information and only show a couple of details are not enough to quench the thirst of a BMW fan. In fact, these images were based on the cardboard model version designed by Thomas Demand but we are immediately drawn to the conclusion that this exciting car will be a hunkered down sports car with revolutionary design features and the potential to be a bedroom poster car of the future. There are also rumours that the M Vision Next will be a plug-in hybrid. Could this be a step into the futures causing other manufacturers to delve into the plug-in hybrid market with their flagship sports cars?
New aerodynamic plans for BMW?
Another image suggesting that the M Vision Next will feature dramatic styling.
WHY HAS BMW DECIDED TO DO THIS?
The German manufacturer has taken huge leaps in electric vehicle development in recent years. Ventures like Formula E and the i3 have shown how the Munich based firm has committed itself to a greener future. The previous Vision concept depicted an SUV that shows "the ways in which autonomous driving will change life on board in our vehicles" as opposed to the view that the Vision M Next is carrying forward as it "demonstrates how technology can be utilised to enhance driving pleasure". BMW has also said that "in the new age of mobility, intelligent technology will fuel sporty driving and the person at the wheel will be turned into the ultimate driver". An insightful claim by BMW.
ANY MORE DETAILS?
There is very little information to get excited about but various sources imply that the Vision M Next could be released as a fully electric vehicle that will be ready for production as early as 2023. It was initially though to be a sporty improvement to the current generation of plug-in hybrids but the idea of an EV seems like a more viable decision.

Oh jeez ... how big is the kidney grille going to be this time?
Hopefully not as big as the M8 😂
I hope it'll get the bigger Mini engine next time.
Me too 😂
You realise the irony when you joke about BMW’s hyper car getting the “bigger” mini engine.....
Surely they could have just started with a 2L. The M3 engine (new S58) + electric is what we want! Ratchet up a cool 700hp without too much drama
Here’s what I want. Mid engined straight six and rear wheel drive. No hybrid and no batteries. I don’t want a new i8 I want a rebirth of the M1. It is so sad that BMW tried to sell that 3 cylinder piece of crap as a super car and even sadder that they’d charge that much for it
Will it of finally given birth to the 911 like the i8 .. once you see it you cant unsee it.. if you dont know what I mean.. take a good look at the rear of an i8 😎
The I8 is a very sad car... too much money spent on looks and not enough on what the car people care about. Although, not like it looks good anyway
