New comedy thriller film about DeLorean features drug deals and the FBI
Last Saturday, the Venice Film Festival was closed by Nick Hamm's new comedy thriller film, 'Driven', which stars Lee Pace, Judy Greer and Jason Sudeikis and tracks the dramatic downfall of John DeLorean.
Watch a sneak peak of the film:
Experienced comedy actor Jason Sudeikis stars as Jim Hoffman, the man who brought down DeLorean (played by Lee Pace) through an FBI informant scheme by getting involved in the cocaine smuggling deal he had set up.
DeLorean previously worked for General Motors before venturing out on his own to produce his iconic namesake car. When his company ran into some financial difficulty, he entangled himself in the illegal dealings in a last-ditch attempt to save it, oblivious to his neighbour and friend's betrayal.
'Driven' is director Nick Hamm's debut work. He claims to have taken inspiration from '70s-period movies of a similar genre such as 'Boogie Nights' and 'American Hustle'. "If you're going to take people on a story of entrapment, coke deals, models, cars - fast cars in a retro '70s world - do it in a humorous way," he said.
"This is a movie that shows you that these people are not what they [say they] are," he continued. "And if you're sucker enough to fall for that then more fool you."
