New images of the upcoming Nissan Z leak online
Including some potential information about the car's trim levels and pricing
Pictures of the 2022 Nissan Z, Nissan's upcoming superstar sports car, have leaked online on the Nissan Z Club website. This is the second time that footage of the unreleased car has surfaced online, with the previous leak dating back to around two weeks ago.
The example featured in the new photos is painted in a silver color with a contrasting black paintjob on the grille, roof, pillars, mirrors, wheels, and rear diffuser. It also features a matching body-color lip spoiler, something that the prototypes featured in the initial reveal did not.
A large portion of the interior is black with parts of the seats, dashboard, and door panels finished in what looks to be blue Alcantara. The two-tone black and blue scheme is likely a call-back to 240Z models from the 1970s that featured a similar interior color scheme. This model also seems to feature an automatic transmission with paddle shifters which is rumored to be the Mercedez-Benz 9G-Tronic. The Z Proto from the official reveal was equipped with a six-speed manual.
All 2022 Z models will feature a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that should give it either 300 or 400 HP, although that number has not been revealed yet. It's expected that the car will be exclusively rear-wheel drive.
Information provided by another leaker in late March revealed that the car will just be called the "Nissan Z", instead of "Nissan 400Z" like fans expected. The base model with no options will supposedly have an MSRP of $34,995. There will be three more trim packages above base, Type S, Type T, and Type ST. The ST will combine the S and T's features, which include Brembo brakes, thicker sway bars, heated and cooled power leather seats, and several safety features like blind-spot monitoring.
The USDM production cars will come in three color schemes, all two-tone: white, silver, and gunmetal. The silver model will apparently come with an automatic transmission, which matches the leaked silver car above. Keep in mind that these are all rumors and could very well be false.
