When Jeep introduced Compass, a contender to compact SUVs in India on 6 August 2017, it brought along only diesel variants in automatic.
From Diwali onwards, Jeep will now be offering the automatic Compass' with a petrol powerhouse.
The petrol variant is powered by a 1.4 Multi-Air engine producing 165 hp with a torque measure of 250Nm. The ‘Sport’ 4x2 variant is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission however the 4x2 automatic is a 7-speed Dual Dry Clutch Transmission delivering an ARAI fuel efficiency rating of 17.1 km/l with a fuel tank capable of holding 60 litres. The petrol automatic may also be available in 4x4.

Dealers have started taking bookings at a token amount of ₹50,000. Expected prices for the Compass petrol AT is between Rs 18.96 lakh and Rs 19.67 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi; after the GST Council increased the cess from 2 to 7 percent on mid-size sedans, large size cars and SUVs.
The petrol AT variant has the same features as the top-spec diesel also featuring Selec-Terrain with four driving modes; namely Auto, Snow, Sand and Mud.
