NFS Most Wanted 2012 could be remastered for late 2022
A less loved NFS could be seeing a return next year...
Although there wasn’t much of a story to Most Wanted 2012 it sure did have some features that haven’t returned to NFS in nearly 10 years. To some it definitely wasn’t the prettiest of NFS games to some people, but it was honestly one of my favourites that I have spent the most time on.
As some may know some Ex-Criterion game developers (now known as Stellar Entertainment) have been remastering previous Need For Speed and Burnout titles for the newer generation of consoles. To name, Burnout Paradise (2008) and NFS Hot Pursuit (2010) have both had remasters, and what would make sense is that they’d remaster the next game they made, NFS Most Wanted (2012).
Features that should see a return in future NFS titles
1. DLC and Expansions
NFS Most Wanted 2012 had some of the best DLC packs in any NFS game. To name, the Heroes Pack including the BMW M3 GTR, Skyline R34 and more. The Movie Legends Pack including the AM DB5, GT500 ‘Eleanor’. A more fast paced Ultimate Speed pack including some incredible cars such as the McLaren F1 LM, Bugatti Veyron Vitesse, Lamborghini Aventador J, Hennessey Venom GT and Pagani Zonda R. However there was an expansion called Terminal Velocity, where a new decently sized location was added being the Airport and more cars, most notably the 918 Spyder Weissach Package. There was new races to do and overall, why can’t we see this again in a future NFS title? The last few years in terms of DLC for NFS has been very minimal, few cars were added and the only somewhat big pack was the SpeedCross pack for NFS Payback which introduced some new cars and some new types of races.
2. Most Wanted online Speedlists
Many could agree NFS Most Wanted 2012 had some of the best Speedlists and overall online experience out of any NFS game. Recent NFS games have incorporated Online as a more freeroam setting where you can do exactly what you wanted just like in Single Player, however Speedlists are not an option. They had some brilliant activities in Most Wanted 2012 with 4 categories in a Speedlist. These being Challenge, Team Race, Speed Test or Race. Speed Test would be a Speed Camera where you have to reach the highest speed you can, Team Race where you randomly get put with other players in a points race, Race which is pretty self explanatory and Challenge where you’d have to complete the goal within a time limit. This would all start at a meet up which is very similiar to Forza‘s Forzathon Live in FH4.
3. Billboards and fast paced action
What I loved in Most Wanted 2012 is being able to compete against mates on Billboards, there has been less of a focus on doing these Billboards on newer NFS titles, and being able to hit them in a Koenigsegg Agera R at 250MPH. The high speed action in NFS Most Wanted kept bringing me back, especially racing online. Even though cars are still really quick in recent NFS games, cars like the Agera R and Veyron Vitesse were some of the fastest cars in NFS Most Wanted, and the majority of cars nowadays in NFS are tuner cars, some sports and supercars, and a few high end cars.
