NHRA signs extension with Fox Sports
A great deal for everyone involved
Today the NHRA and Fox Sports announced a multi year extension of their current agreement. Although the deatils were not disclosed, the extension will keep NHRA Mello Yello Series competition airing on Fox, FS1 and FS2 well into this decade.
Mark Silverman, President, National Networks, Fox Sports had this to say about the extension, "Fox is thrilled to extend our relationship with the NHRA as we enhance our coverage for drag racing fans. The NHRA on Fox has achieved record audiences for the sport, and we look forward to working with the NHRA to continue to expand the audience and grow the sport beyond the middle of this decade."
With this deal the NHRA and Fox Sports continue their collaboration of producing and telecasting NHRA competition in the United States and Canada. This includes extended coverage on Fox, FS1 and five hours of finals coverage of the US Nationals every Labor Day weekend.
NHRA President Glen Cromwell seemed pleased about the extension, "The Fox broadcast team understands motorsports and consistently delivers an incredible production to racing fans across the globe. With expanded coverage on the Fox broadcast network and FS1, and an NFL adjacent event, we think we'll not only bring our fans the drag racing coverage they expect but also ignite entirely new NHRA fans over the next years."
Along with the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, this extension means the coverage of the Lucas Oil Sportsman Series and the E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod Series will continue on FS1 and FS2 as will multiple encore telecasts of all events so racing fans can watch at their convenience.
Fox and the NHRA will each continue to market advertisements in NHRA programming to NHRA national sponsors, race sponsors and other advertisers.
