Nine luxury SUVs compete off-road!

Are they as good off the road?

While the SUV craze continues, the overwhelming majority of SUV owners use them on the road. Manufacturers are well aware of this and take advantage of this to save money by, for example, offering only two-wheel drive versions of their vehicles.

But when you pay almost €100,000 for an SUV, you expect it to do well off-road, to see if your money is worth it. As a result, the YouTube channel, aptly named SUV Battle, conducted a test of nine top-of-the-range star SUVs on the European market.

Among the candidates were the BMW X5/X6, the Audi Q7/Q8, the Range Rover Sport, the Mercedes GLE, the Lexus RX, the Volvo XC90 and the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Obviously, the test cannot be perfect because the nine vehicles have different power ratings, different tires and equally disparate drivers.

To make the experience as fair as possible, the least powerful car will go first and the most powerful one will conclude the test. The chosen dirt track becomes more and more difficult as the vehicles drive over it. The nine cars will be tested with their respective driving modes.

  • BMW be like, "what the hell am I doing here? I'm a bloated overweight sports car!".

  • Not really a fair test as you say, but still interesting. The Range Rover really showed how it should be done. Most of them look like they’d be fine for a camping trip though. The Volvo should maybe stick to the road. Fun video to watch.
