Nissan Attempts To Quietly Kill Off Datsun

2w ago

Nissan broke everybody's heart this week when they announced their plan to discontinue the much loved Datsun brand as part of their ‘performance recovery strategy’. Datsun is widely credited with kicking off the Japanese tuning scene and JDM car culture, and the 510 was a watershed moment for the brand because of its focus on driver engagement.

Nissan is staring down their lowest operating profit in 11 years following the charges of financial misconduct that were bought against the disgraced former chairman, Carlos Ghosn. Datsun had been discontinued in 1986 but relaunched in 2013 as a low-cost brand in emerging markets.
