Nissan commits to Formula E through the end of 'Gen3' era in 2026

The Japanese constructor (racing under the French flag) commits to FE for 5 more seasons

Nissan (currently racing as Nissan e.dams) confirmed its long-term commitment to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship through the end of season twelve in 2025-2026, which will also coincide with the last season of Gen3 cars.

Nissan joined Formula E in season five, the only Japanese manufacturer to do so, and it currently sits in 8th place (with 14 points) in the constructors' standings after the first two races in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.

Formula E has a plan to introduce a new car every 4-5-6 years with a facelift every 2-3 years. The current Gen2 cars, for example, were unveiled (to the public) at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show and are going to be used for this season and next season (2021-2022), before being replaced by the Gen3 cars in season nine, 2022-2023.

Formula E will be back for round three on April 10 in Rome.

  • I think you meant Formula E in the description but apart from that, solid piece. Just imagine if Nissan were in F1 though. A man can only dream...
