Nissan confirms new Z-car is on the way
If you love Nissan Z-cars, then this news will be music to your ears...
Next year, it’ll be one whole decade since Nissan introduced the 370Z. Despite the fact that it started to feel its age some time ago, Nissan still sells the 370Z as a brand new sports car. Due to its age, rumours have long circulated regarding a replacement. Nissan has kept quiet in entertaining such rumours - until now that is.
The news comes directly from the mouth of a man called Alfonso Albaisa, who’s a rather important figure in the world of Nissan. In fact, for those of you who don’t keep track of who’s who in the world of automotive figures (like me), he’s Nissan’s Senior Vice President for Global Design. In other words, he’s the man who’s paid a bloody fortune to allow the entire world’s eyes to be tortured by the Nissan Juke.
According to Alfonso, a new Z-car is well and truly in the works. While he’s yet to give any specific details, or tease any information as to when the car might debut, he did say that despite the pressure associated with the project, he is extremely excited to be working on it.
There’s no doubt that this information will open the door for speculation. And personally, I think there are a couple of rough guidelines we can give to paint a picture of the next Nissan Z-car. For a start, I think it’s reasonable to suggest the use of a turbocharged engine - perhaps a smaller displacement V6, with a pair of turbos. Also, I believe the power figure will rise above 400 horsepower.
That’s just what I think though. Now I want to throw the question to you guys: now we know for certain that a new Z-car is on the way, what do you think will be powering it, and how powerful do you think it’ll be? Let me know in the comments.

I hope it doesn’t look like this 🤣🤣🤣🤣
ARGH!! My eyes... 😫
I just pray it isn't a crossover.
You and me both 😂
I think they should have made a 370ZX model with turbskies but a new model should be good too. Personally I’d like to keep it naturally aspirated
My 2009 370Z, which isn’t very much different than today’s version regarding power-train, suspension and engine (don’t know about brakes, but these were so-so), had a magnificent engine. A linear pull from 1800ish rpm to near red-line, it never had a ‘whoosh’ of power like a VTec or turbo and it had steam-train torque. Mated to a good performing, if not short or quick, 6 speed manual, speed never came with extreme rapidity, but non-the less smoothly & quite quickly. I hope they keep the naturally aspirated V6!
The biggest disappointment was the handling. Yeah, it was flat in the corners and could carry high G’s, but the seat-of-the-pants variety of feeling was lacking. Feeling “one” with the car just didn’t happen. Due to high levels of computer intervention, spirited driving was thwarted and you never make the connection between your butt and the road. If there’s one improvement that would make me look at purchasing one in the future, it would be more human connection with what the car’s doing.
It will be a natural asperated V8 rear wheel drive manual and automatic available! It will have performance on a par with gt Mustang, but better handling and lighter! Fun ahead of performances but still plenty of both!
