Our weird times of quarantine has led to many of us having to work from home and, for many of us, office space at home might be somewhat of a compromised situation. Many of us have resorted to somewhat unusual office solutions to get our work done in peace. Maybe this is something that Nissan has taken into consideration with one of its latest products shown at the Tokyo Auto Salon, which went virtual for this year. Using the NV350 van as a base, Nissan's created the Caravan Office Pod and it's quite possibly the mobile office solution to our work from home troubles!

The NV350's cargo area has been converted into a sleek, modern office cubicle that can slide out of the rear of the van and has an open-air lounge area on the roof for you to stretch out in the sun. Nissan's also tried to make the vehicle a bit more rough and ready, fitting beefier BF Goodrich all-terrain tyres and crossover-style plastic body cladding (the NV350 does have an AWD option from the factory, but Nissan didn't mention it when talking about the Caravan Office Pod). There are enough power outlets in the van to power and charge all of your devices from your kettle to your smartphone. All in all, it looks like a great solution for people who either need a quiet space away from their hectic home environment or for somebody taking a few months or a year off to travel around with their work and hobbies in tow.

At the moment, the NV350 Caravan Office Pod is just a concept and Nissan has no plans to make it a production model. It is a very cool concept though, especially considering how much more flexible work is these days in terms of location. Who knows, perhaps a lot of us could be travelling around in funky, modern mobile offices like these!

  • Is this what Nissan employees do when they haven’t got any work to do?

Lots of people are working from home, don’t need a van/pod to work remotely not to mention it’s not suitable for the weather in the uk right now.

    • The office section can be used inside the van as well as pulled out of the rear to have it in the fresh air.

It's just a concept atm but if there's enough interest for it it'll probably become an official factory conversion. It's designed for...

    • Conceptually nomadic people are not the same as office people.....are they??

All campers already have chairs and tables but the only reason to buy a proper camper is to actually get away from the office rather than take it with you?
