NISSAN READY TO SAY FAREWELL TO HOMEBUSH STREET CIRCUIT
SUPERCARS FINALE THIS WEEKEND IN SYDNEY
Homebush, Sydney, NSW, Australia: Nissan is set to complete the 2016 Australian Supercars championship this weekend as the championships visits the Homebush street circuit in Sydney for the final time.
Also known as the Sydney Olympic Park Street Circuit, Homebush is a temporary street circuit around the former Olympic precinct at Sydney Olympic Park, Homebush Bay, Australia.
For 2017, the event will be replaced by a street race in Newcastle north of Sydney. NISMO Supercars ace MIchael Caruso is looking to say farewell the Sydney event with a strong performance.
"I’m really looking forward to racing at Homebush for the very last time," Michael Caruso said.
"Being in eighth place in the Championship we can go there to not only stay in that position, but to make sure we have a great run. We saw last year that Rick made the podium at the event, so we’ll be working hard to deliver the same sort of result."
Caruso has led the charge for Nissan this year, putting the Altima back in victory lane with a win in Darwin.
"This year has been great for our team. We started the year with a podium at Clipsal and left that round leading the Championship," he said.
"The race win at Darwin was another highlight. Going into the last round of the Championship in 8th demonstrates the year we’ve had. I’m excited that we’re showing strong consistency and that’s given us a good stepping stone for next year."
