No cuts planned for GM racing programs

hanges to General Motors’ product line, auto production facilities, and its workforce will not impact the current racing programs the auto giant has in place.

With this week’s news of upcoming plant closures and the potential downsizing of more than 10,000 employees, questions concerning Chevrolet Racing’s major racing endeavors have been raised in the various paddocks where the brand competes.

“Our Motorsports programs and team relationships are not impacted by the GM transformation announcement from earlier this week,” a Chevrolet spokesperson told RACER.

Through Chevrolet, Cadillac, and its Corvette line, GM’s primary racing endeavors are spread across IMSA, IndyCar, NASCAR, and the NHRA.

  • That will not sit well with current employees I would speculate, from what I have read they blame GM more than the obvious reason many manufacturers have chosen to move production or shut some facilities down for the time being.

    I feel this is heading in a bad direction for producers and manufacturers. What to do when your hands are tied?
