No more speed record for the Bugatti Chiron ?

Bugatti's promise at the launch of Chiron, will the speed record attempt finally take place ?

When Bugatti presented the Chiron at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the Molsheim brand announced a top speed electronically limited to 420 kilometers per hour. The manufacturer also said that the Chiron would perform a little later, probably by 2018, an attempt to record speed with an unbridled copy.

We are in 2018, and Bugatti seems much less eager to beat the speed record now owned by Koenigsegg. There is talk of the need to develop new tires specifically to achieve this record attempt: they simply would not be ready.

Fear of competition?

Hence a theory that is starting to spread on the internet, as Bugatti would no longer be sure to beat this absolute speed record with Chiron. It is now 447 km / h since the attempt of Koenigsegg Agera RS in the United States, and other brands like Hennessey plan to tackle it with over-powerful machines.

So, will we ever see Chiron launch an attack on the absolute speed record? The new boss of Bugatti says that this record "does not appear in the priorities of the brand".
