Norris voted most impressive driver of F1 2020 so far, Alonso visits Enstone
The Brit voted most impressive so far as the Spaniard visits Enstone to start Renault work.
Lando Norris has been voted as the most impressive driver of 2020 F1 season so far from Pierre Gasly and Lewis Hamilton.
After fans voted Italian GP as the best race of the 2020 F1 season so far, from the Tuscan GP and Austrian GP, they have now chosen McLaren's Norris as the most impressive driver so far from AlphaTauri's Gasly and points leader Mercedes' Hamilton.
Norris gathered 23 percent of votes from 87,000 fans who voted as Gasly had 18 percent, while Hamilton got 12 and Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen was fourth with 11 - with the quadruple being the only ones to have percentage in double digits.
In only his second season, Norris surprised many by a podium finish in 2020 opener as he sits fourth in the drivers' standings with 65 points, two ahead of Red Bull's Alexander Albon. His teammate McLaren Carlos Sainz is 11th with 41 points, despite a podium.
In fairness, the Spaniard has much worse luck than Norris. The second-placed Gasly is having a breakthrough F1 season back with AlphaTauri, having scored his maiden victory. The Frenchman is 10th with 43 points, but has impressed with his drive, certainly.
As for Hamilton, it is self-explanatory, with the Brit sitting atop with six wins and 190 points, a mammoth 55 ahead of Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas. For Verstappen, though, it has been a mixed run with three retirements already in nine F1 races.
Despite that, he sits third with 110 points, where he has either finished on podium or retired in the nine grand prix. Behind the Top 4 comes Renault's Daniel Ricciardo with seven percent of votes, who is seventh in drivers' standings with 53 points.
There is a tie next with both Racing Point's Lance Stroll and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc getting five percent of votes each. While the former has been consistent to be sixth with 57 points - which includes a podium - the latter is pushing his slow F1 car to the limit.
He still has two podiums to be eighth with 48 points. McLaren's Sainz and Red Bull's Albon are next with three percent of votes, as Racing Point's Sergio Perez (with seven F1 races), Nico Hulkenberg (with two rounds) and Williams' George Russell got two percent of votes.
At the back are Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas, Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel, Alfa Romeo Racing's Kimi Raikkonen and Haas' Kevin Magnussen with one percent vote, while the rest like Williams' Nicholas Latifi, Alfa Romeo's Antonio Giovinazzi, Haas' Romain Grosjean, Renault's Esteban Ocon and AlphaTauri's Daniil Kvyat got zero percent - it could be that they got some votes but it comes in a decimal range.
Alonso at Enstone:
With Indy500 done and most of his other commitments finished for the year, Alonso has started his preparations towards the 2021 F1 return with Alpine as Renault shared about the Spaniard's visit to its Enstone base in the United Kingdom.
Alonso may attend couple of F1 races as well in 2020 as Renault is pushing to have him testing at Yas Marina during the young drivers' test, which takes place in a current car. Outside that, he can have private runs in older machine.
All of the key numbers from the first half of 2020 season.
The fans have voted Monza as the best of 2020 from Mugello as the Australian gets emotional to share five things he misses.
