The green van is a Saic Maxus 80 EV, and is one of the largest electric vans that is currently on the market and uses a battery of 56 kW. The van is the only one of this type used in the Nordic countries and shall deliver business packages to customers in Oslo, said the postal service.
"We have electrified everything which is possible when it comes to small distribution cars. Now we see how we can do the same with bigger vehicles,
“This is important because it’s hard to find vans of this size. It can potentially have a huge economic and environmental effect for us here in Oslo, if it can replace the diesel vans,” said John Eckhoff, press officer of Norway Post.
In Oslo, Akershus and Østfold they will need more than one hundred cars. Eventually, the Postal service will need electric cars in other large cities in Norway. They are hoping to start regular operation with electric cars in the second half of 2018.
