The second edition of the NYC E-Prix will be held this weekend at Red Hook in Brooklyn.
Last year, Formula E made history by being the first international motor racing series to ever race in the city, and now the all-electric series is ready to do it again in style.
Season Three - Meeting the Big Apple
The New York City E-Prix was the previous venue before the season finale in Montreal, Canada, which also happened to be a double-header event.
In a thrilling weekend, Audi Sport driver, Lucas di Grassi was crowned Formula E world champion for the very first time.
Techeetah drivers Jean-Eric Vergne andStephane Sarrazin joined him in the podium on Saturday.
The Chinese based-team became the new "team in the block" but soon revealed itself as a strong contender.
Things were looking good on Saturday but Sunday would become the cherry on top of the pie, and we know that Formula E likes to keep the best for last.
On Sunday Jean-Eric Vergne started from the third position in the grid 37 laps later, he´d be winning the race, his first in the all-electric racing series, his first with Techeetah, the one he´ll never forget.
New York and Montreal were set to be double-header venues on the season four calendar as well, but then with the Canadian city dropping out, the gate got wide open for New York to become the new scenario for this season grand finale.
This weekend, a new world champion will be crown in the city that never sleeps.
Time for fans to hold their breath until the last race to meet the new champion, that´s how electrifying the ABB FIA Formula E Championship has become.
What changes for the second edition of the NYC E-Prix?
The last race of season four sets the end of an era, Formula E gives its farewell to the first generation to welcome the future, Season 5 with its brand new Gen2 car.
The street circuit sited at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook is a bit longer this season.
The first version comprised 1.947 km (1209 miles) in 2017, the track now spans 2.373 km (1475 miles).
In 2017 the first race was set to last 43 laps with the second race set for 49 laps, the 2018 Qatar Airways New York City E-Prix is set for 45 laps on Saturday, and 43 laps on Sunday.
In 2017, the most notorious absences were those of Sebastien Buemi (season two champion) and José María López, both due toFIA WEC engagements. Former GP2 champion, and today´s Toro Rosso Formula One driver, Pierre Gasly, stepped in for Buemiat the time while Alex Lynn stepped in forLopez, making his debut in the electric single-seater series in pole position on Saturday.
Later on, he would be confirmed as Sam Bird´s new teammate in DS Virgin Racing for the upcoming season four.
This weekend, Edoardo Mortara (Venturi FE team) is set to miss the season finale due to engagements with DTM.
The French driver Tom Dillmann will replace Mortara in the Venturi line-up.
British driver Sam Bird won the race on Saturday, followed by Jean-Eric Vergne in second, and Stephane Sarrazin third (both driving for the Techeetah FE Team).
The DS Virgin driver also won the race on Sunday, Felix Rosenqvist, and Nick Heidfeld respectively completed the podium (both driving for Mahindra Racing FE team).
This weekend, Sam Bird and Jean-Eric Vergne will be battling for the title. The latter arrives at New York with an advantage of 23 points over Bird, but this weekend everything can happen.

The winner scores 25 points, the second place 18, and the third 15.
Julius Baer pole position sums three points while the Visa fastest lap sums one point (if in a top-10 finishing position).
Jean-Eric Vergne needs no introduction, the French driver debuted in Formula E back in 2014 at the Punta del Este E-Prix in Uruguay(third E-Prix of the season) driving for the Andretti Autosport Team, and right away he sat on pole position on his first ever Formula E participation.
In 2015 Vergne joined the DS Virgin teamalongside teammate (now title rival) Sam Bird. It wasn´t the best of the seasons for theFrench driver, but the experience gather was substantial.
For season three, he signed with theTecheetah FE, with the team, the driver has achieved his best results in the all-electric series (Techeetah is his current team).
He has four wins, four pole positions and a total of fourteen podiums.
Sam Bird (31) has been in Formula E since its early beginnings, always as a driver for the DS Virgin team.
The British driver is always battling for the first positions, his experience in the series is a plus, allowing him to build a brilliant career to his name.
From season one, he has won races (seven to this date) and scored four pole positions, making a total of fifteen podiums.
And this is not the first time he makes it to the final round with a chance to fight for the championship.
