:O :O :O A920, Aberdeenshire - Mini truck passes horse rider at speed..
This has caused some debate! Some say the horse rider should not have been on the road and others blame the truck driver! What is your opinion?
"Had a bit of an accident on the A920 (Aberdeenshire) today. It was really windy so my mare, Ruby, was on her toes but then a lorry came past so fast it caused her to bolt. As I was trying to get her back under control another car tried to overtake us and I ended up on the road. The lorry was turning left in a hundred yards or so, I wish he'd had the patience to wait ten seconds or so :/"
Rule 215 of the highway code
Horse riders and horse-drawn vehicles. Be particularly careful of horse riders and horse-drawn vehicles especially when overtaking. Always pass wide and slowly. Horse riders are often children, so take extra care and remember riders may ride in double file when escorting a young or inexperienced horse or rider. Look out for horse riders’ and horse drivers’ signals and heed a request to slow down or stop. Take great care and treat all horses as a potential hazard; they can be unpredictable, despite the efforts of their rider/driver.
