On Thursday, I got this Matchbox Retro Series 1971 Nissan Skyline 2000 GTX which I found at my local Target. The deco left a bit to be desired, I did like the pink color though.

Once I got home, I went to work to remove the side tampos. I used a dry erase marker on both sides before wiping off with some rubbing alcohol.

I used a small Sharpie black marker to fill in the panel lines, Molotov Chrome marker for the window / side mirrors trim, details for the front and rear, POSCA paint markers, white paint and a toothpick to complete the look. The pink definitely is more prominent after removing the questionable deco. Whether or not I’m going to keep this in my collection is another debate.

For now, enjoy the pictures.

  • Woulda been better off without the panel line markers but its an improvment for sure.

  • Thanks, the panel lines are a preference of mine. I can’t please everyone.
