- 1968 Hot Wheels Beatnik Bandit

One casting, two different lives

50+ year Survivors

Hot Wheels have been cherished and loved by children and adults alike for way over 50 years now and it always amazes me how some have survived being really “loved” by some. Case in point, the Beatnik Bandits shown here. The one missing the motor and stanced came from Pennsylvania while the near-mint looking one came from California. I don’t know their individual histories but it is fascinating how each one has made it this far. Now granted, the stanced one pales in comparison to other cars of the same vintage that have been played with to the point where they hardly recognizable anymore but it still serves as a testament to how tough these toys really were.
