Only a mad person would pay $150k for an E39 M5

How much would you pay for a perfect E39 M5? $50,000? $75,000? $100,000? Well, prepare to fork out $150,000 for this particular Imola Red E39 M5 as that is how much a dealer called Enthusiast Auto Group are asking.

Now don't get me wrong, this particular E39 M5 is in perfect condition in an amazing spec. It's finished in Imola Red and the interior is fully loaded, and finished in Silverstone two-tone leather, with aluminium trim pieces.

The best thing with the E39 M5 is that it's the perfect Q car. It just looks like a normal 5-Series of the time but packing a 4.9-litre V8 producing a still impressive 394bhp and a limited top speed of 155mph. These were impressive numbers in 1998 but fast forward 21 years, those numbers are still not to be sniffed at.

The real question is, is it worth $150k? Sure, it has just over 9,000 miles on the clock and is in a rare spec, but something tells me it's too much.

*DISCLAIMER* I have nothing against this dealership, but I do believe that $150,000 is too much for an old M5.
