Origins of India's safest automaker
Tata motors have been producing cars that have topped the safety rating for a while and this is how it all started.
It all began in the year 1945, a year in which Tata Motors was founded but as a locomotive manufacturer. Sensible business choice, you know as the trains were all the hype back in the 1940s, especially in India.
After almost a decade later Tata Group entered the commercial vehicle sector in 1954 after forming a joint venture with the Germans Daimler-Benz. After years of dominating the commercial vehicle market in India, Tata Motors entered the passenger vehicle market in 1991 by launching the Tata Sierra.

Sierra was a sport utility vehicle based on the Tata Mobile platform. Later on, Tata launched the Tata Estate in 1992 a station wagon design based on the same Tata Mobile platform and other cars like the Tata Sumo a 5-door SUV, a hatchback Tata Indica and another SUV Tata Safari which became a sort of legend in Indian automotive history which isn't that big, but we are proud of it.
And a fun fact about the Indica it was also sold in the UK albeit with a different name and a different badge it was called the city rover. surprisingly not many Britains were a fan of and it was voted among the top 10 worst car ever.
Most of Tata's cars were plagued by reliability issues, uninspiring performance and seriously absurd built quality.
''Cheapest Car In The World''
Who can forget the Tata Nano dubbed ''The cheapest car in The world''. Nano despite being groundbreaking on many aspects of a small city car it was plagued with the same issues as other Tata products. And if you are anything like me you might have come across some videos that show Nano's crash test and how it got crushed like a soda can.
Up until 2016, Tata was a brand bought by customers who were going to use it for cab services or by people who couldn't afford a better car.
But that changed, somewhat.
So, now you know where Tata motors were in terms of their product quality and other stuff that makes a good car, I don't know a ''good car''. so, after 20 years of making cars like city rovers what changed suddenly that now cars from Tata's stable are toping the safety rankings and are genuinely good in terms of quality and performance. Which other foreign brands like Hyundai, Honda and Suzuki fail to match. at least on the safety side of things.
Three words!
Jaguar land rover, or was it just two? Land Rover or Landrover, anyways after Tata acquired the JLR group, yes, yes, JLR is owned by an Indian company, I know it's a piece of old news but I still feel proud of this fact and can't help it. Yes, the engineers there are mostly British, hopefully. So, back to the point, Tata started using the resources from the British marque to improve their own products and it does reflect on its latest products.
The latest one being Harrier which shares a similar platform as the Landrover discovery and F-pace the jaaag!
Is Tata's recent turn of product quality because of the smart folks at the JLR or something or someone else?

Tata has really upped the game, however they still have a long way to go
In terms of features and overall "value". The Harrier lacks basic things such as connected car and 4 wheel drive. The Altroz comes with a puny little 3 cylinder.
yup, that was what i had in my mind as well.
