Ouch! Jeep Crushed By Electric Garage Is An Expensive Mistake
Ooooh dear. When chopping the roof off your car is too expensive, why not just park it on top of your electric underground garage? Then you can get the chop shop look in seconds! Probs best not to try this at home, though.
We go live to Australia, where some poor soul has just found out the hard way what happens when electric underground garages go bad. That is one Jeep Wrangler that’s heading straight for the scrap. Or Craigslist, where it’d be deemed good condition and drivable.
It’s reported that the electricity unit for the garage got flooded, meaning all the power tripped. Presumably, that took out the sensors that would stop the Jeep being crushed like a Coke can. If the electrics did malfunction because of flooding, it’s likely that the Subaru underneath has equally irreparable water damage. Double whammy for the owner, by the looks of it.
Still, as folks in the Reddit comments section point out, it’s kind of lucky that only cars were on the lift at the time. It’s not worth thinking about if a child was in the car or someone had fallen into the lower section. And, hey, at least the Jeep was parked all the way on the roof section , not halfway on and tossed skyward.
I know what you’re thinking. Someone’s doing well enough for a car lift, and they park a Subaru and a Jeep in it. But different people buy different things, and there’s plenty of rich people driving old Subarus. Plus, import taxes in ‘Straya mean these cars are way more expensive than in the States or in the UK.
Personally, though, I can’t help thinking that it’s not ideal to put a roof over where the garage lifts up. Seems like asking for trouble. Yes, inner-city Melbourne land is expensive – like every other city – but some foresight may have saved the Wrangler from the grips of Craigslist. Share your thoughts in the comments.
