Our Little Supra

From the age of 4 this is the car I grew up with and still to this day it does school runs...

All families have THAT car...

That one car that you all love and cherish. You hope to never say goodbye to it because of all the school runs it took you on and the amount of trips you took in it. That car to me is our precious Supra.

Although growing up not really understanding much about the car I surely adore it now.

I think my passion for cars was hidden for many years. I'd say it began on that one Christmas where my sister recieved a Play Station with Gran Turismo and Ridge Racer....

I think my passion for cars was hidden for many years. I'd say it began on that one Christmas where my sister recieved a Play Station with Gran Turismo and Ridge Racer....

Where it began...

My parents got her when I was about 4, my Father found her through a friend which was reassuring when being told the history of the car. After looking at it he then went to go collect her, she had just had new wheels put on and the whole car was in perfect condition. The supra was a replacement of the Celica that my mum had previously owned. Now I know I'm talking as if I remember this all but at the time I hardly knew what the point of socks were....

One happy Mum in her new car!

"Just A bit of a cosy Car"

Famously said by my Siste's Bestfriend

The Supra was my Mother's car, she always drove her around. A memory that still sits in my mind to this day is when we always used to take my sister and her friend to school, they were around 12 at the time and so with all four of us jammed into the car my Mum made her way around town. For years and years the car did the same thing on repeat, it was up until we brought a Green Mini Cooper Sport that she began to be left behind. The Supra was soon parked in the middle of the drive as both my parents had their own car to get around in...

The Mini was meant to be a small project for my Father, I became way too attached to it because I somehow had an obsession over Mini's from a young age. Soon we sold it, the body kit became a huge problem as the speed bumps in my area were too big of a challenge and it was just time to sell it on.

Now in comes the new family car, a Lexus RX300. Straight away this car was amazing, before winter was a huge challenge and now we were enjoying the long car journeys to Scotland a lot more! That was it, the Lexus was the new favourite and just like Woody in Toy Story the Supra was left. For ages it was trapped and didn’t move off the middle of the drive. Every time we had to drive it, it needed a jump start. Please know that my Father is always looking after the cars very very well, no matter what he will always clean the cars weekly and always making sure they had no faults! Anyways. The poor thing was falling apart, the rubber was rotting, paint was cracking and there was moss growing. It was a heart break to look at for any car enthusiast.

To this day we haven't even added on 9,000 miles to the dash. My Father alone does 8,000 a year, it was all wrong. It couldn't sit their for much longer.

Getting her back on track

We soon figured it out, we had acquired way too many car's and it was time to say good bye to my Fathers BMW 330ci M sport. It wasn't until then that after we had sorted out the other cars that we could put all of our attention towards the Supra. We are now at the middle of 2017 and she had spent weeks and weeks up at a relatives house, she was being fixed all over. The gaps between the window frames and the body had moss growing on, paint had been cracking on the roof and spoiler, the seats had faded and part of the rear window frame had completely rotted through... The list wasn't long but it could have definitely been better. The first attempt at the whole car being resprayed failed as the poor bloke found condensation inside the spray gun... The second attempt however worked a treat, she was finally back to normal!

A Happy Ever After?

Last year she was used all the way up until the first cold night of November. It was so nice to hear her roaring down through town on the way to picking me up from school and then being driven down the long empty roads back home. On a warm summers day she drove beyond words perfect, her engine purred like never before. It was the cherry on top after completing all my GCSE's.

Now she is sat on the drive, all wrapped up in a cover just awaiting the warmer weather. It was last month when she had to go out again and absolutely glided through her MOT. I came home to hear her coming down the roads back home and I’m just itching for her to stay out.

Safe to say I’ve grown very attached to her, although she doesn’t have much done or added to her she’s more than perfect for us. Now this all might be a lot to say. But hey I’m just a 17 year old girl who loves her cars.
