Pendulum are back with two new songs!
Driver and Nothing For Free are the band's first new songs in 10 years!
The Australian/British band Pendulum have been very quiet ever since the touring cycle for their last album Immersion finished in the early 2010s. Whilst new music had been promised multiple times, it never came and Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen found themselves working on other projects away from the Pendulum banner. That's all changed though as, following some DJ sets under the Trinity banner where Swire and McGrillen were joined by other original Pendulum member Paul "El Hornet" Harding where a couple of new songs were tried out, the band have finally finished and released their first new material in 10 years!
The first of the two new songs they've given us is entitled "Driver", it's a classic Pendulum drum and bass track with lots of filthy bass and driving synth hooks. It's definitely going to be a proper rave anthem in the clubs or at live Pendulum shows once quarantine is over!
The second new song is called "Nothing For Free" and comes with a proper music video! It's a huge electronic pop track with great vocals from Swire and massive production reminiscent of the more pop and rock-leaning tracks on Immersion and In Silico. The video touches on some more than timely topics too, looking at the COVID-19 pandemic through a lense reminiscent of Watership Down.
Whilst a solid date for a new album is yet to be confirmed, it's fantastic to see two brand new songs from the celebrated drum and bass/pop/rock/EDM crossover act. Hopefully, we'll get to hear more new stuff sooner rather than later!
