People just wanna travel: Qantas Airways 'flight to nowhere' sold out in minutes

Qantas Airways, the flag carrier of Australia, launched a new route dubbed the 'flight to nowhere', departing from Sydney and landing in... Sydney. A 7-hour flight over Australian skies and, more to the point, further proof that humans were made to travel and explore and roam. Tickets were sold out in minutes, ranging from AUD $700 to 2000+.

  • Conceptually I like the idea as you get on a plane, feel like your going somewhere vaguely resembling normal.

The reality is you have to stand and wait in an airport, go through the rigmarole, potentially be standing near someone with COVID-19 and be in a confined space with them only to get off in the same place you started and feeling poorer in the process.

Better idea, use the cash to hire a fast car for the day and do a road trip and give the car back. Marginal/no risk of COVID, much more fun and the money used won’t feel wasted.

Now this would be good for the soul!

    • Much better idea, what car would you hire for the day?

    • A Porsche 992 turbo S cab

Drag strip, country roads, track and then top down on the way home.

  • Brilliant, but a real Detox, buy a couple of the maddest cars you can afford, old TVRs and the like, then go to a national speed limit b-road, and rent it out, once it gets going you will make your money back and then some
