Petrolheads, attention! This Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK GTR could be yours*
*if you have $10,000,000 lying in your bank account. While we may not be able to afford it, we all can stare at the beauty of this German beast
Time for a little history lesson. In 1997 when the blockbuster movie “Titanic” was breaking records and text messaging was becoming an everyday mode of communication, Mercedes decided it wanted to enter the FIA GT Championship.
In just 128 days, the clever boffins at Merc and AMG quickly designed the car with the help of CAD. At least 25 road car versions of the racing car had to be made, and so Mercedes made this - the AMG CLK GTR.
The AMG CLK GTR is deemed by many as one of the most lethal road-legal cars ever made and rightly so. It has a 6.9-litre naturally aspirated V12 which produces 600 horsepower. 0-62 takes only 3.8 seconds and flat out, it will go till 214mph. These performance figures are mind-boggling even by today's standards.
Step inside and you will find a typical 90s like interior with analogue dials and lots of alcantara and suede. For all its lethal track-like performance, the CLK GTR does have air con.
This car you see here has done 896 miles (1,442km) and is about to go under the hammer at Gooding and Co.'s Pebble Beach Auction. Tempted? Then you will have to reach the auction with $8,000,000-$10,000,000. For this astronomical sum of money, you will be getting one of the most lethal cars ever made.
