Petrolheads rejoice: Honda S2000 *may* come back!
Yes you read that right, Honda is bringing back their famous sports cars...sort of.
Can you believe it? The Honda S2000 is 20 years old this year. Yes, Honda's 50th birthday present to itself is 20 years old in 2019. Kind of confusing right?
What's more confusing is what Honda is bringing to the Tokyo Auto Salon in 2020. They just announced that they are going to showcase a car called the Honda S2000 20th Anniversary Prototype.

As you can see from this image from Honda's Twitter account, it's not really a new car, rather some tasteful touches for the front-engined rear-wheel-drive sports car. The front bumper, the sideskirts, the black wheels and the headlights are all changed to freshen up the aging roadster.
Unfortunately, this is the only image Honda has announced at the moment. No doubt we will see more in the near future as the famous tuning show comes closer. However, this does bring up an interesting proposition: Why did they call this car a 'Prototype' rather than a 'Concept'? Last time they did a 'Prototype' is on something called an 'E Prototype', which they turned it into a production car with minimal modifications.
Do you think they're testing the water before they launch something big? After all, this is a company that reverses trends, by reviving sports cars and hot hatches like the NSX and Civic Type R in this declining economy.
