Peugeot, Citroën, Opel and Ford won't be present at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show
The Geneva Motor Show is one of the most important automotive events. It is Europe's first motor show of the year and presents the important new products that will be sold on the Old Continent. It has therefore been a must for manufacturers until now.
Lamborghini, for example, has already announced its withdrawal from the 2020 Geneva Motor Show. Four other brands have joined the list of absentees: Peugeot, Citroën, Opel and Ford. The PSA Group is withdrawing from the show because its three brands will not be presenting any major new models. It is therefore more judicious to miss the show this year.
However, it is not known whether DS will be present at Geneva. Nor do we know whether the French luxury brand will be presenting a new model at the Swiss show. DS could surprise us by revealing the new DS9, which will be the brand's future large sedan. That would be great even though it would be very unlikely due to the accumulated delays. The marketing of the DS9 would be postponed until spring 2021.
We note that car manufacturers are increasingly turning away from traditional shows to present their new models. The 2020 edition of the Geneva Motor Show has already lost five manufacturers. Geneva is not the only one to suffer losses. On the other side of the border, Frankfurt is currently suffering the same fate, with fewer and fewer manufacturers.
