Pink McLaren 570S gets absolutely annihilated in 20mph zone
''Constable Big Mac, I promise I was under the speed limit''
As a Londoner myself, I'll concede that the 20mph zones in Central London, which are practically in force throughout the entirety of the city centre for those who are unaware, can be difficult to drive in.
A combination of trying to stick to such a sluggish speed, whilst attempting to manoeuvre through tight metropolitan streets, and also keeping an eye out for adventurous tourists who refuse to look both ways before crossing, really does make for an unpleasant driving experience.
An accident is never too far off in the capital. Image credit: ABC News.
It's for this reason that I feel somewhat sympathetic towards people who do have knocks and niggles whilst driving in one of the most camera-congested cities in the world. But despite this, one thing I can never forgive someone for is binning a three figure supercar - as I'm sure my fellow petrolheads will agree with. That disproval turns into absolute anger when it ends up being a show-off who wanted to rouse a crowd, whilst clearly not possessing the driving abilities to do so. I think you can see where this is going ..
I'm all for hearing loud revs and seeing the occasional wheel-spin when out and about in the glittering streets of the capital - for mere ordinaries like myself, it's supposed to make your day, and it usually does. But it pains me to say that not all drivers are capable of handling their machines, as was the case with the idiotic owner of this McLaren 570S:

Obviously under the mounting pressure of needing to impress onlookers, the owner has quite clearly strayed north of the 20mph limit, before darting straight into a parked Volkswagen Golf. The incident has come to the attention of the public thanks to a chap called Simon Tuhill, who was one of the London Fire Brigade commander's that was commissioned to investigate the accident.
He posted pictures of the wreckage on Twitter, along with the following caption: "We go to many incidents involving crashed vehicles but not that many where one of those vehicles is a McLaren 520 (sic) #supercar. Crews from #Euston attended this RTC on Montagu Mansions #Marylebone last week to make the scene safe after a driver lost control."
And yes, you read that right, the car that was crashed was apparently called a McLaren ''520''. I do sincerely hope someone corrects him, and that he isn't given much stick for it in the office, it's an honest mistake - bless him!
