Pirelli celebrates 400 Grands Prix in Formula 1
The first grand prix of the 2021 season will mark the historic milestone for the Italian company
It was May 13, 1950 when the history of Formula 1 began at Silverstone. That day was a triumph for Alfa Romeo, with the drivers Nino Farina, Luigi Fagioli and Greg Parnell conquering the entire podium, annihilating the other competitors.
Their Alfa Romeo 158s were equipped with Pirelli Stella Bianca tires and that day also began the history of the Italian company in the Formula 1 championship. In 2011 the Milanese company obtained the supply of all the teams in the league and still holds this monopoly today.
The race that will take place this Sunday will be the 400th in the highest category of motorsport. In total, the cars supplied with Pirelli tires have so far achieved 240 wins, 243 pole positions, 247 fastest laps and 727 podiums in Formula 1.
