Pixar Pizza Planet Tribute Truck Sighted in Springfield, Oregon

Hi Drivetribe! My first post in Studio as opposed to Quick Post. While on an unsuccessful diecast hunting trip to Walmart on Olympic Street in Springfield, Oregon, I sighted this beat-up, mid 70s Toyota Hilux in a "custom" scheme any 90s kid (like myself) knows by heart. I live close to this truck's owner's home, and drive by it on occasion, but have never gotten the opportunity to do a walk-around photo shoot of it like this Walmart lot afforded. This Hilux's owner obviously loves "Toy Story" and Pixar animation, and the alien toy and Pizza Planet hat on the dash, along with the grungy, rusty, dented-up condition and tailgate painted to hide all letters in "Toyota" but "Yo", make this animation icon even more true to canon. While it is pretty beat-up, and recently got hit, there are a grille and a yellow surround for it along with a headlight bucket assembly, lying in the bed under that 70s plastic fantastic topper.

  • It's perfect! It's remarkable just how closely they managed to recreate the one from the movies. Even the faded bed topper is the right color.

I'm also reminded of how different Toyota's logo used to be. I prefer the original style like you'd find on an old Corona personally.

  • Amazing!!! Love it!!! Fun fact: The Pizza Planet Truck shows up in at least every Disney Pixar film!

Probably the cheapest movie car to build...
