Polestar unveils special edition of its '1' coupe
The limited-edition car is a swan song of the hybrid sports coupe.
Polestar 1 is set to go out of production by the end of this year, but not before the manufacturer marks the sun setting on the car with a special edition, which takes the form of a coupe painted in gold with golden stitching on the inside. Only 25 will be built, and I am pretty sure all of them are going to be sold out instantly.
Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, stated that, "Polestar 1 was about pushing our own boundaries, exploring a new era for Polestar and launching the brand with a strong statement – and it’s done a great job of capturing the hearts and minds of fans, press and the lucky customers who own one.”
Ingenlath continued, “It’s hard to believe that our beautiful halo car comes to the end of its production life later this year. We pushed boundaries with this car, not only in terms of engineering but also in its design and execution. Polestar 1 set the tone for our brand and its genes are evident in Polestar 2 – as they will be in our future cars to come.”
Unveiled back in 2017, the Polestar 1 can be classified as an electric grand tourer, having a combined output of 609bhp and also a range of 77 miles on a single charge - which may not be much, but still makes it the hybrid with the most amount of range.
