Porsche have released a brand new racecar which will be taking part in 2019 GT3 racing series. The all new 911 GT3 R is being marketed as a track going version of the 911 GT3 RS. Finished in Porsche's latest racing livery, the new 911 GT3 R has been accented on the outside with the GT3 RS's launch spec lizard green shade.

The new 911 GT3 R is powered by a 550hp generating 4.0 litre flat six boxer engine which shares most of its components from the road going 911 GT3 RS' unit. All of this power is delivered to the rear wheels using a sequential six speed constant mesh gearbox which has been optimized to perform lightning fast gear shifts. These numbers are quite significant however, the real talking point is the aerodynamics of this car. The 911 GT3 R is decked with wide wheel arches, extended front splitter, louvers, massive rear wing and diffuser as well as a vented bonnet.

In typical racecar fashion, the majority of the body parts of the 911 GT3 R have been produced with the help of light weight carbon fibre material. The front bonnet, bumpers, doors, rear decklid, widebody as well as the massive 1900mm by 400mm rear wing has been created out of carbon fibre. The story continues on the inside as the single seater racecar has received a carbon fibre dashboard, carbon fibre steering wheel among other components. While we are discussing the interior, it is worth mentioning that Porsche have introduced air conditioning for the first time ever inside a racecar. The driver will not have to endure high temperatures inside the cockpit as the seats and the helmet have specific cold air inlets.

The 24hr of Nurburgring weekend has begun and Porsche are being represented by 43 racecars. In the latest news, the 911 GT3 R of Manthey racing has achieved a pole position among the top 30 qualifying.
