When it comes to Porsche, they have been known to dominate the game when it comes to lap times. The GT2RS and GT3RS for example are some of the best track cars out there.
According to Top Gear who spoke with Porsche’s Motorsport boss, Frank-Steffen Walliser the next hyper car “must achieve a 6m 30s at the Nurburgring. I don’t care about the drivetrain, 6m 30s is the target”.
“Sports cars are defined by their performance, then we have to look how to achieve it. An electric car in 6m 30s is quite a challenge. So, a hybrid may be unlikely, a fully electric hypercar even more so”.
The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ is the current Nurburgring lap record holder with a 6:44.97, which is 2.3 seconds quicker than the Porsche GT2RS. Porsche have a lot of catching up to do!
Back when the 918 came out in 2013, it did a lap time of 6:57 which just shows you how far Porsche have come.

Isn't the Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR fastest car around the Nurburgring?
It looks like it is but that was with the aid of Manthey Racing. I think what Porsche mean is that they want to do it alone
Another hypercar from Porsche? Sounds intresting!
It’s certainly a challenge, if anyone can do it; Porsche can.
I couldn’t agree more,Desert Dude!👍🏻😉XX
After Lamborghini beats their new hypercar porsche will just make a new 911 with like 800hp and beat the recored again
