Porsche Cayenne Coupé India Launch Details Out
Mark your calendars! The date is December 13, 2019. That’s when Porsche will launch the Cayenne Coupé in India. Unveiled globally in March this year, the Cayenne Coupé is expected to begin its Indian innings in two derivatives – the standard and the Turbo. An E-Hybrid option, with a V6 or a V8 under the bonnet, is likely to be added at a later stage. Those PHEV iterations debuted in August 2019.
As you would expect, both the standard and Turbo variants will borrow stuff, including the powertrain, from the Cayenne. The entry-level model will house a 3.0-litre V6 producing 335bhp/450Nm, whereas the Turbo boasts a 4.0-litre V8 with 542bhp/770Nm. Both engines will come coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission and an active all-wheel-drive system. The 0-100kmph sprint times with Sport Chrono Package, for the V6 and the V8, are 6 seconds and 3.9 seconds respectively. The claimed top speed figures, in the same order, are 243kmph and 286kmph.
The sharing of things doesn’t stop there as both the SUV and the Coupé will have the same set of features as well. That means everything from adaptive sports seats with ventilation and massage functions, ambient lighting, a head-up display and four-zone climate control, to rear-wheel steering, wheels up to 22 inches in size, Burmester 3D sound system and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system will be on offer.
There will be those who prefer a hunkered-up SUV over one that has a sloping roofline. However, some people would happily trade a bit of practicality for a more aesthetically pleasing design. That’s why cars like the BMW X4, Range Rover Evoque and the Mercedes-Benz GLC exist. The Porsche Cayenne Coupé, however, will rival the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé (new one coming next year), the Audi Q8 (launching in January 2020) and the BMW X6 (latest version also expected in 2020). As for the price, expect Porsche to demand a considerable premium for the Cayenne Coupé over the Cayenne.
