    Key Points:

    1. Porsche has announced that the Cayenne E-Hybrid models will receive bigger batteries for 2021.

    2. Battery capacity will increase to 17.9 kWh from 14.1 kWh.

    3. Range figures have yet to be released.

Recently, Porsche upgraded the batteries fitted in the Panamera E-Hybrid models, now the Cayenne receives the same treatment. For the 2021 model year, Cayenne E-Hybrid models will be equipped with a larger battery capacity, now at 17.9 kWh, rather than the previous 14.1 kWh.

The larger battery pack will, presumably, allow for more range, but EPA numbers haven't been released yet. The Cayenne E-Hybrid's gas powertrain remains the same, and utilizes a 455 horsepower turbocharged 3.0 L V6 on regular E-Hybrid models, and a 670 horsepower twin turbo 4.0 L V8 on Turbo S E-Hybrid ones.

    • I'm not familiar with electric motors. Does a higher kwh mean a larger range?

      • kWh is an electric car's battery capacity. So yes, a higher kWh usually means larger range and more speed.
