Porsche Passport Gives You Unlimited Porsches For a Monthly Fee
Porsche has unveiled a new subscription plan for their cars, and it's a pretty intriguing concept. For the "low" monthly price of either $2,000 or $3,000 per month (essentially my mortgage), you can get a Porsche delivered to your home whenever you want, and switch models whenever your heart desires.
Membership plans come in two tiers: The Launch ($2,000/mo) will net you the Cayman, Boxster, Macan, and Cayenne, while the Accelerate ($3,000/mo) will net you the 911, Cayman, Boxster, Panamera, Macan, Cayenne. Noticeably absent from these plans is the 918 (for good reason). Each payment includes roadside assistance and conprehensive insurance.
Under the plan, you simply use the Porsche Passport app to request a car. It will then be delivered to your home or office by a personal concierge, who will hand detail it and fill you up with a full tank of gas. Once you get bored of whatever car you request, you simply swap it out for another one, as many times as you want.
As of now, the Porsche Passport service is only operating in the greater Atlanta area, but one could assume there are plans to open up in other cities down the line. If this becomes successful, do other carmakers follow suit? How will traditional car ownership be affected? Only time will tell.
