The 86th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans took place on 16-17 June 2018. Porsche entered two special Porsche 911 RSRs in the event: the factory cars with starting numbers 91 and 92 presented themselves in traditional Le Mans liveries from the 1970s and 1980s.

The number 91 911 RSR driven by Gianmaria Bruni (Italy), Richard Lietz (Austria) and Frédéric Makowiecki (France), is inspired by various Porsche race cars in Rothmans livery. For example, the Porsche 959 that won the 1986 Paris-Dakar Rally in the British tobacco manufacturer's livery. On the racetrack, the Porsche 956 and the Porsche 962C celebrated the greatest successes: twice each, the two white-blue Group C sports prototypes each took overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans - the 956 in 1982 and 1983, the Porsche 961 took a Le Mans class victory in the distinctive design in 1986.

The sister car with the starting number 92 also received a "pink pig" design - based on the Porsche 917/20 "pink pig" from 1971. With the special designs, Porsche commemorated its eventful history at the prestigious marathon at the Sarthe in its anniversary year "70 Years of Porsche Sports Cars".

A few weeks ago, IXO launched matching models in 1/43 and 1/18 scale. Also here reflects the the increasing quality of the manufacturer again. The models are made of diecast and are supplemented by plastic attachments, antennas and perfectly fitting inserts for glass, taillights and headlights. The color scheme of the body is also excellent.

Compared to other manufacturers, the IXO assembly base is provided with an indicated start/finish line in addition to the vehicle designation. A nice detail, which makes the model look even more precious - this invites to present the model together with the base in the showcase at home.

In addition to the improved quality, the price is also significantly lower compared to other manufacturers. Just 70 euros for this successful miniature. However, there is still room for improvement: for example, the decals are not 100% processed or applied to the model. Also minimal color tickers are visible on some parts. However, this is complaining on a high level, if you consider (as already mentioned) the low price in mind.

Enjoy the pictures!!!
