Porsche unveils its sixth generation infotainment system

It finally features Android Auto!

13w ago

Porsche today unveiled its new infotainment system, called PCM 6.0 for Porsche Communication Management 6.0. This sixth version, which will soon be available on future models of the German brand, is actually based on the system used by the Taycan and improves certain aspects of it.

First of all, the graphics have been optimized and the menus have been reorganized for better ergonomics. For the first time, Porsche uses improved voice recognition to understand more complex messages, as does Mercedes' MBUX artificial intelligence.

The other major new feature is the addition of Android Auto compatibility, again a first for Porsche. However, you will have to connect your Android smartphone with a USB cable, whereas Apple users can do without this constraint thanks to wireless technology. The Porsche 911, Cayenne and Panamera will be the first models to benefit from this new generation infotainment system.

  • Good job Porsche it looks great, although let’s be honest, most people will probably just use Apple CarPlay or android auto and leave it at that.
