50 years back, the Porsche 917K under the Salzburg racing division won the 24hrs of Le Mans with only 6 cars behind it due to treacherous conditions. This not only marks Porsche's first ever win, but also will pave the road to make them the most successful manufacturer at Le Mans. To commemorate this wonderful event, Porsche made this. The Porsche 918 Spyder. One of the holy trinity of cars. It holds the record of the fastest accelerating car from 0-100 kmph and was the fastest car around the Nurburgring. Completing one lap in just 6 minutes and 55 seconds.

First look

This particular car I have is a 1:24 model made by Bburago. At first the feel of the car is outstanding. The aluminum body paired with the legendary Salzburg livery will leave you looking with awe. The "plastic" carbon fiber parts are of really high quality and resembles that of the actual car. The attention to detail is above average. But it's the best for the price. Especially the interior.

The most iconic thing about this car is the upwards facing exhaust. Most of you must have watched the top gear review where they clearly show the epic flames shooting out. It has a 4.6 liter V8 paired with two electric motors that put out 875 HP and 1280 NM of torque! Everywhere you look there are green highlights of "918 Spyder" and "E-hybrid" that clearly tell that this is a hybrid car.

The Interior

Looking inside, the carbon fiber bucket seats and the sloping center console scream race car. The interior is not that detailed like that of Maisto or Autoart, but it is good for a 1:24 model car.

The Exterior

Like I mentioned before, this car has been wrapped in the legendary Salzburg racing livery which signifies the historic win at Le Mans some 50 years ago. The wide and low stance is just amazing to look at especially when kept on your office desk. It may not be the best looking hyper car but it sure is the best engineered one.

Note the air holes for cooling the brakes and the green accents. Such attention to detail is amazing at a price of just $20. Although, working suspension and some engine details would have made this a really sweet deal. One thing that's a bummer is that even though it's a spyder, Bburago has not given any way to remove the roof.

Conclusion

If you are a beginner at model car collection and are looking for a cheap but impactful car, then this is the car to go for. I would say starting with the holy trinity, that is the Mclaren P1, the Ferrari Laferrari and the Porsche 918. All three cars will cost only about $60 and it adds a sentimental value as well. All in all, this is a legendary car to have both as a model car and in real life, if you have that kind of money.
