Richard Childress auctions off a legit Dale Earnhardt stock car to raise money for charity
Richard Childress has just sold, for the very first time, a Chevy Monte Carlo stockcar wearing the legendary #3. This car was driven by Dale Earnhardt Sr. himself in several Winston Cup races between 1996 and 1998, including a win at Rockingham Speedway in '96. The Intimidator also finished in fourth place or higher in the first three races he ran in this car. That's some serious race history!
Barrett-Jackson just auctioned off the car during a recent online-only event, with the winning bid hammered at an impressive $425,000. On top of that, the car's new owner gets to visit Richard Childress himself at Childress Racing headquarters in North Carolina. Before taking delivery of the Earnhardt car, they will be treated to a VIP tour of the facilities, a lunch with Mr. Childress at his vineyard, and a case of Childress wine to take home. Reliable Carriers have chipped in the ship the car wherever it needs to go in the US at no charge.
100% of the proceeds from this auction will go to two charities that will benefit first responders who have been impacted during this pandemic. Feeding America works with a network of member food banks to help fight hunger. Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization that provides aid to those impacted by natural disasters. Donation links to both charities can be found below and on Barrett-Jackson's auction results page; you don't have to bid on a car to make a difference!
